Response to Intervention Specific Learning Disabilities (RTI-SLD) is a continuing education training module geared at providing a comprehensive understanding of what RTI is and how it applies to SLDs. The training will provide a general overview of the current process used for identifying children suspected of having a SLD, how we look at Learning Disabilities, the importance of reading as it pertains to Learning Disabilities, and finally, an overview of RTI and some related issues.

Dr. Alberto Restori received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside in 1998. After completing his doctoral studies, Dr. Restori worked for the Long Beach Unified School District as a Lead Psychologist overseeing middles schools and alternative placement schools. Dr. Restori is a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) in California and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Dr. Restori is an Associate Professor and coordinator of the school psychology program at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). In addition to his position at CSUN, he is a consultant and Independent Evaluator for numerous school districts including Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). His research interests include Response-to-Intervention (RTI) for children experiencing both academic and behavioral challenges, functional assessment and positive behavior support for children at-risk for behavioral difficulties within the school setting, and risk/protective factors and intervention for youth gang involvement. His teaching interests include assessment and intervention of children at-risk for learning disabilities, assessment and intervention for children with behavioral challenges, and law and ethics for educational psychologists and behavior analysts. Dr. Restori is fluent in both English and Spanish.
